High Strength Friction Grip (HSFG) bolt assemblies are specified for preloaded structural steel connections where the joint design requires controlled preload and, in some applications, slip resistance. For HSFG bolting, the specified assembly and installation requirements matter as much as the bolt diameter. A standard high-tensile bolt should not be assumed to be equivalent to a project-specified preloaded HSFG assembly.
Details needed for an HSFG enquiry
- Applicable project standard and engineering drawing; specify EN 14399 or another standard if required by your project
- Bolt nominal diameter, length, thread specification and grade
- Matching nut and washer arrangement and whether a complete assembly is required
- Requested surface finish and any relevant coating restrictions
- Required product-specific certificates, testing or traceability documents
- Quantity, delivery destination and required project dates
